Liquid Eggs Recalled: Cleaning Solution Contamination
There is a recall of liquid egg products due to potential contamination with a cleaning solution. This recall involves products from Cargill Kitchen Solutions under the brand names "Egg Beaters" and "Bob Evans Better’n Eggs".
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall of over 212,000 pounds of liquid eggs because they might contain a cleaning solution with sodium hypochlorite, a common ingredient in bleach. Cargill Kitchen Solutions, based in Lake Odessa, Michigan, produced the affected products. The recall was initiated on March 28, 2025.

What Should You Do If You Have These Eggs?
If you have purchased any of the recalled liquid egg products, the advice is clear: throw them away immediately. Alternatively, you can return them to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.

What if You've Already Eaten Some?
The FSIS has classified this as a Class III recall, which means that "use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequence". This determination was made after an "investigation and thorough assessment of the contents of the cleaning solution". While no adverse health effects have been reported, if you are concerned about potential health effects after consuming the product, it is recommended to contact your healthcare provider immediately.
